Happy Birthday Melvin!

We are enjoying a road trip to the Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg, Texas for Melvin’s birthday. What a quaint town with lots of shops, restaurants, tasting rooms, art galleries as part of the Marktplatz in downtown Fredericksburg. There are many wineries to choose from. We plan on visiting Barons Creek Vineyard and Gore Family Vineyard on tomorrow.

We are staying at the most unique Boutique Hotel which is called Whitetail Court Hotel. There are eight stand-alone one bedroom cottages surrounded by a gated, private wall garden. The owners, husband and wife are from Houston and recently opened the Hotel in October 2024. Their hospitality and attention to detail is impeccable. They also own Austin Street Creamery, a walk up window ice cream shop that is located onsite. And…it is all you can eat free to guests. The owners went to Italy and took an ice cream making workshop and purchased a special ice cream maker and now the husband makes ice cream daily. There are eight flavors to choose from.

What a great getaway, just about 200 miles outside of Houston! Add this to your list of places to visit and you surely will not be disappointed.
