Christmas In March!
What better time than the month of March to finally quilt a piece I created two years ago. While visiting Boulder, Colorado, to see Deion Sanders, Shedeur, Shilo, and the rest of the Colorado football team, I took time to explore several local quilt shops. Of course, I couldn’t leave without bringing home a few beautiful fabrics. One particular line immediately caught my eye because it offered a refreshing twist on traditional Christmas fabrics—stepping away from the typical
The Joy of Retirement
Good morning, I remember the many Monday mornings spent waking up to the responsibilities and pressures of work. Today, in the gift of retirement, those mornings feel very different. I wake up with gratitude, knowing the day can be spent doing something that brings me joy and peace—creating and quilting. 🧵 It’s a gentle reminder of how meaningful it is to now have the time to slow down and embrace creativity.
Finally Complete!
Over the past year, I worked through all 148 training video modules as I learned to operate and understand my Gammill Statler Ascend Longarm machine. I have now completed all of the modules and have quilted approximately 12 quilts. I know there is still much to learn, and I plan to continue revisiting the modules as I grow in my longarm quilting journey. Additionally, I attended the Gammill Summit in Des Moines, Iowa, September 2-5 2025. This educational training was a bit ov
What’s The Temperature?
Thank you, Yvonne, for allowing me to quilt this beautiful quilt top that you created as a Christmas gift for your niece. I am sure she will treasure it for many years to come. A temperature quilt is a quilt in which the fabric colors represent the temperature for each day of a year. Each day’s piece corresponds to the recorded temperature, creating a quilt that becomes a visual record of the weather throughout that year. It was especially meaningful to commemorate the year o
Burst Block Quilt
I had the pleasure of longarm quilting Twonda’s stunning Burst Block quilt. Her color choices are bursting with vibrant energy and beautifully enhance the movement of the design. The quilt pattern is Burst Block by Man Sewing, designed by Ron Arpell, and the quilting was completed using an edge-to-edge pantograph from Gammill Pattern Cloud called km_sum15_e2e.
Vote, It’s Your Right!
I pray that you exercised your right to vote on yesterday! I’m working on an Improv denim quilt that features the word “VOTE”. Stay tuned for my finished quilt.
It’s My Two Year Retirement Anniversary
It’s hard to believe I’m celebrating two wonderful years of retirement! What an incredible journey it has been. I’m truly grateful for good health and the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of my labor — traveling, exploring, and savoring life at a slower, sweeter pace. I look forward to continuing this beautiful chapter, embracing new experiences and living each day on my own time. Cheers to two amazing years — and to many more ahead. Happy retirement to me! ❤️
Adding Texture to Quilting
My texture is hand Sashiko on a textured denim background fabric. Sashiko is a traditional Japanese stitching technique known for its simple, rhythmic running stitches, usually worked in white thread on indigo fabric. Originally practical, it’s now widely used decoratively in quilting and textile art. I plan on incorporating blocks into a denim quilt inspired by Japanese stitching and Gee’s Bend inspired improv. A mixture of two cultures.
Good morning!
The pastries from Costco are delicious. I am enjoying a blueberry cream cheese danish. Perfect for breakfast or as a dessert or snack.
It’s Finished!
During the COVID pandemic, when everyone was on lock down, I decided to make a quilt for the fall season. This quilt filled my spare time with hours and hours of comfort. Once the pandemic was over, I had it quilted by Donna Warnemount. Fast forward to today, I just finished sewing on the binding. This quilt will forever be a reminder of what we carry forward, the echoes of love, loss, and endurance—proof that even in our darkest hours, hope found a way to shine through.
Hand Sashiko Textile
This is a small Sashiko fabric textile that I created by hand. I plan on making about six more Sashiko textiles to be added to my Gee’s Bend inspired quilt. My sister, Connie and I will attend the Annual Gee’s Bend Retreat on November 12-16 in Jackson, Mississippi. I gifted this particular piece to my friend Twonda to be added to one of her quilts or framed. 💜 Stay tuned for more!
What An Honor!
I was honored to be selected to display my quilt, “Ballerina Girl” in the 2025 Houston International Quilt Festival at the George R. Brown Convention Center on October 8-12, 2025. Thanks a million to my family, friends, former co-workers, Galveston Quilt Guild members and complete strangers (art and quilt lovers) that gave me so many compliments regarding this very special quilt that was inspired and made for my niece, Lauren. Special thanks to China Oiler who quilted “Baller

My Quilt Journey with Making Lauren’s Quilt To Take To College
What a journey! It was stressful enough with learning the ins and outs of operating my Gammill Statler Ascend Long Arm Machine, but making Lauren’s quilt to take to college was extra added stress. I wanted it to be perfect as I was gifting this quilt to a very special person, my beautiful, smart and talented niece, Lauren! Constance’s Tea Cup Quilt
What beautiful fabric used to create this Gee’s Bend inspired quilt! The name of the quilt pattern is “Rhapsody Tea Cups”, an edge to edge design by Creative Stitches. The Long Arm quilting is by yours truly! Connie and I are a great team as we navigate through learning to quilt on my Gammill Statler Ascend Long Arm Machine. This quilt will be warm and cozy when used while relaxing, reading a good book, or listening to music, and of course, sipping on a warm cup of tea.
