I love paper piecing a quilt top. I love the accuracy of the sharp angles and tiny pieces that make a beautiful quilt. This is what I call the “pretty side”.

However, I do not care much for the “ugly side” of paper piecing due the amount of fabric waste and the mounds of paper that you painstakingly pick from the back of each pattern piece.

In my opinion, the “pretty side” of paper piecing overwhelmingly outweighs the “ugly side”.

Paper piecing is my favorite technique and I will continue to make beautiful quilts with perfect piecing.

By the way, there is a paper piecing technique where you do not sew directly on the paper, you simply sew on the side of the pattern’s 1/4” seam allowance. I like this technique for larger projects but not for detailed projects.

If you are a Quilter and have not done paper piecing, give it a try! You may like it as much as I do. 💜
